Departmental News (2011-12)

1. Department submitted Minor Research Project proposal to University Grants Commission and is successful in getting grants of rupees 95,0000/- towards the conducting of  research.

 The Project title:   Synthesis, characterization, and biological activity studies of some                                       Quinolinone complexes of 3d-transition metals.

 Principal Investigator:     Dr. A.K.Kini

 Co-Investigator:              Prof. Ganesh S. Hegde

2. The Department has submitted a project proposal (Science Projects in College Education- SPiCE) to VGST (Vision Group on Science and Technology) chaired by distinguished scientist Prof. C.N.R. Rao.

The Project title: “Synthesis, characterization and study of antimicrobial        property of 3d-transition metal complexes derived from                                                                quinoline-thiosemicarbazone schiff base”.

3. The Department of Biotechnology (Our allied dept.) has also submitted a SPiCE project proposal to VGST.

The Project title: “Antimicrobial screening of various leaf and root extracts of Achyranthesaspera L”

         Our alumni are dispersed all over the globe, to present here about one such proud past student:  Shri Sandesh Pai, completed B.Sc in 2006, did M.Sc in Inorganic Chemistry in Karnatak University Dharwad. Later he worked as research associate in the prestigious institution “Indian Institute of Science” Banglore (well known as Tata Institute) and presently doing his doctoral degree (Ph.D) in Germany.

          Many of our recent alumni are doing their masters degree in Chemistry and allied fields in different Universities of Karnataka, following is the brief list of that.
